Designing a Trustworthy Financial Website

What is good y'all? John D. Saunders here. You know the vibes. In today's video, I'm talking about wealth management, finance, and more types of websites and how you can design your website to look and feel very trustworthy within the space. As we all know, we are very, very protective of our money. And so we show you how to create a brand and website that is conducive to trustworthiness so that clients can hire you as a wealth management company or finance company to handle their finances, to help them build their wealth and so forth.

So let's dive under my computer. I'm gonna walk you through this process, and we'll do this together.

All right. So if you're in the finance industry, wealth management, one of the things you want to make sure you do is, convey your website as a trustworthy source. It's not just a feature, you have to make this your foundation. So what are some things that make a website untrustworthy? You have outdated or cluttered design, lack of clear contact info, unsecured or slow website, confusing nav and overwhelming text and then no social proof or credibility indicators.

So a few things that we did, and this is a redesign that we did for a client called Generational Capital Advisors. We did the website design, we did all the branding assets, all the visual, the logo design and development. We actually did this from scratch. They came to us and were starting out their biz and we were so excited 'cause we love to work in a business when it's brand new. To be able to have a lot of cool creative control, but then also be able to have a ton of the skills and assets that a client can provide as well.

So we really wanted to go hard with this design and develop this site with a clean and consistent look and feel. So I'll show you all in real time. How we did that as well. So a few things here in this space, you have to have a clean and modern design. We've done a ton of financial and wealth management websites, and some of the things that we'll see is just inconsistent design. It doesn't look really great. There's no cohesiveness in regards to the color palette and font choice.

It's hard to read. It's hard to navigate and find what you're looking for. And so we partnered with this client. They were brand new. They gave us the creative freedom to be able to do our thing. So we wanted to include all the robust services that they provide. So we actually created a mega menu here, which is, it's detailed, but it's also simple in its effectiveness, right? Because you're able to see at a bird's eye view all of their expertise.

So I can see this, and again, this is just additional proof of the offers that they created. We helped them write the content and actually worked with them in tandem to make sure that we're using the right and conveying the right words and the content visually to this client. We also have a really cool investment philosophy that we help them develop as well as experience GCA, which is their overall experience and custom. Also, as you can see, very clean and concise design.

Subtle animation interaction. Nothing too crazy 'cause we wanna make sure that the site's accessible and easy to use as well. An amazing team, they provided us with some great headshot, so that was really helpful in our case. We also talk about this mega menu too, as, as well as who they serve, right? So business owners, corporate executives, charitable families.

We wanted this website to speak to all their different client verticals in a way that was easy to absorb, easy to understand. And easy to go ahead and fill out a form. That's why we have this contrast of a lot of this white space with this image of a family 'cause we wanna make sure that we convey that and show this call to action really quick and clearly. Of course, we make sure we have high quality team photos, strong calls to action.

As you can see everywhere, we actually included two options for contacts. So you can either contact them through a Calendly integration based on their calendar. Or you can connect with them in person at their offices or fill out a form. So we don't wanna inundate them with too many options, but we wanna give them enough to make an informed decision on if they want to collaborate.

Of course, all these forms and site is secure. Minimal fields, clear progression indicators as well. And then the site is completely mobile optimized for a mobile and tablet break points. So if you're looking at this, sorry, y'all was still loading up. If you're looking at this from a perspective on mobile, you'll see the menu has been parsed down. To really easily have access here and then you can still access all the mega menu items here.

And so just to kind of give you some final takeaways here, lemme spread this back out. So it's on desktop. Let me go ahead and refresh. So trust equals design plus security plus transparency. You want to make security visible certifications, SSL, clear privacy policies as you can see down here. We have those as well as terms and privacy policy. You want to show real people.

We try to use down to earth real image content and a mix door juxtaposition of icons and then real photos, and then just keep it simple, easy navigation, clear CTAs, and guide users through the flow on this website.

So that's just an example. We'll cover more of the wealth management websites and partnerships that we've had, but if you need help with yours, feel free to end me up.
